Agni Tea

recipes Feb 14, 2025

This warming brew is great for kindling the digestive fire, dispelling excess congestion and mucus, and filling the heart with warmth on a cool morning.

Combine the following ingredients and gently boil for 20 minutes:

  • 1 quart (4 cups) water
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 2 handfuls minced ginger root
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Sucanat or other unrefined sugar (not honey, as it turns indigestible when cooked)
  • 1 to 2 tsp mineral salt or rock salt

After boiling,  take the pot off the burner and cool for a few minutes. Then add:

  • The juice of 1/2 lime or lemon. (Do not boil the citrus juice.)
