Cardamom Mint Limeade

recipes Feb 27, 2025

Although everyone thinks of lemonade in the summer, according to Ayurveda lemons are actually heating, while limes (the green ones!) are cooling. This drink is a lovely cooling option that feels just as festive, and even more refreshing. Cardamom adds an unexpected floral note, and the mint gives just the right zing.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pure water
  • ¼  cup fresh squeezed lime juice (or more to taste)
  • ½  teaspoon cardamom powder
  • ¼ teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon sugar (first stir into a bit of hot water, then let cool)
  • Fresh mint leaves (to garnish)

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients except mint in a blender until frothy.
  • Pour a serving into a drinking glass.
  • Take a sprig of mint leaves and gently crush them to release their essential oils, then tuck them into the glass.

Serve cool rather than ice cold (or with just a few cubes of ice, if you can’t resist!).
