Gingerly Sauced Pears

Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons ghee
- ½ cup orange juice
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- β teaspoon mineral-rich salt
- β teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 large pears, cored and sliced or cubed (optional topping)
- 1 Tablespoon real maple syrup
Instructions
- In a cast iron or heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine all ingredients except pears. Cook over medium heat until ghee is melted and spices mix – about 1-2 minutes.
- Add pears and stir, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until sauce thickens slightly and pears are tender, about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat. If desired, drizzle maple syrup over the top.
