2024 Retreat Theme:
Replenishing Ojas,
the Essence of Resilience

Ojas (pronounced OH-jus) is one of the subtle forces in our body, yet it has a very tangible effect on our strength and resilience. We can think of Ojas as our reserves of energy and immunity, protecting the body and mind.

Physically, Ojas is related to Kapha dosha and the fluid systems in our body, especially the reproductive, hormonal, and cerebrospinal fluids. Like a shield or buffer, the more Ojas we have, the more impervious we are to disease and negativity.

Ojas also gives us an overall sense of satisfaction with life, a feeling of abundance and sufficiency. It enables us to withstand change and challenges. Our modern culture is chronically low in Ojas. Together over this weekend, we will explore the many ways we can build and replenish Ojas through our daily lives.

Going on retreat is a powerful act of
self-nourishment & healing

In Vedic times, people went to the forest for spiritual sustenance, growth, and healing. Today we follow in their footsteps.

It takes effort and intention to extract ourselves from our usual lives to regain the juiciness and insight that retreat offers.

Together in the forest, we'll cultivate the practices that nourish our body and lead us to our inner knowing. And we’ll experience the restorative power of nature, far from the consuming details of home.

Retreat Highlights Include…

  • Daily guided yoga and other practices to strengthen our inner wisdom and sense of nourishment

  • Time to explore our beautiful surroundings ~ hiking, birdwatching, sitting by a mountain stream, basking in the sun

  • Art projects and altar assemblages to spark our creativity and self-expression

  • Ample opportunities to rest, lounging under a tree or sunbathing by the pond

  • Unscheduled time for personal reflection or gathering with new friends
  • A bonfire celebration on Saturday night

Meet your Retreat Guide, Ivy Ingram...

It’s my mission to help motivated, curious women restore their health and find real happiness, drawing on ancient teachings and inner wisdom.

As a certified Ayurveda Practitioner, I began working with clients in 2012. I trained in the U.S. for 2 years under renowned Ayurveda teacher Dr. Vasant Lad. In 2011, I also trained for 5 months in South India at a traditional panchakarma center where intensive cleansing and rejuvenation programs are conducted.

I also have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and I’m a certified yoga instructor.

When not guiding retreats, I teach clients how to get rid of digestive issues, painful periods, anxiety, and stress-related problems through individual consultations, seasonal digestive cleanses and educational programs.

Our Beautiful Retreat Venue

We’ll be staying in our own private mountain lodge nestled on 700+ acres of pristine forest and mountains, surrounded by wildflowers, babbling streams, and rustling maple and white oaks - just the place to unwind.

Our lodge holds our cozy hotel-style bedrooms, a spacious dining room with stone fireplace, lounge space, and our own kitchen. We can pop into the living room for tea, fruit or snacks throughout the day.

Our morning yoga and program sessions will be held in the Yoga Barn, an easy 10 minute walk from our lodge through rolling pastures and past the fishing pond (also drivable if preferred).

All our delicious healthy meals will be prepared with love, offering vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner served in our community dining room or outside under the trees.

Location & Travel Details

  • Our Retreat Center is located in Burnsville, NC, in the Great Smoky Mountains, about 45 minutes northeast of Asheville. The center is about 3.5 hours drive from the Durham/Chapel Hill area, and 2 hours from Charlotte.
  • Arrival/Departure Schedule: Arrive on Thursday afternoon, any time after 4pm. Settle in and join the group for a light dinner at 6pm followed by a welcome circle at 7pm.

Depart Sunday after our morning practices and breakfast. Check out of your room by 11am but feel free to linger on the grounds or take a hike on a trail until you’re ready to depart.

  • Airports: The closest airport is Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), approximately 1 hour away by car. (Asheville is a small regional airport, so it's likely the most expensive.)

Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT) is 2 hours away, and Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU)  is about 3.5 hours away.

  • We will try to arrange a carpool to pick up our airport travelers. If you want to be in the carpool, you will need to land at RDU on Thursday by 2pm at the latest, or at CLT by 4pm. You'll need to fly out of RDU Sunday after 3pm, or out of CLT after 1pm. If you want to be in a carpool, email Ivy about your travel plans before you buy your airline tickets!

Accommodations

Each bedroom features 2 full beds, a couch, coffee table, mini-fridge, and a private bathroom.

Double-occupancy shared rooms and single-occupancy private rooms are available. If you register for a shared room, you will be paired with a roommate. Please notify us if you know someone else who is attending and want to room together!

Single- or double-occupancy preference
offered on a first come, first served basis

Our Retreat Environment

To create an intentional retreat environment, you are invited to disconnect from the outside world as much as possible, so you can hear the quiet promptings from within that often get drowned out by the demands and habits of our normal lives.

Conveniently (!) there is very little if any cell phone coverage in this area. Wi-fi is not available in our lodge, and is only accessible at the main office.

Please plan to leave your devices turned off and out of reach during our group sessions (and as much as you are willing to beyond that!).

Please leave all alcohol and recreational substances at home.
